December Athlete of the Month
Congratulations to Bobbie Duncan for being named this months Athlete of the Month. Bobbie has really stepped it up since the spring and the effort is paying off. Results come from consistency and hard work and Bobbie has made it to the gym 20+/month 4 of the last 6 months. Keep the positive momentum going Bobbie!
When did you become a member at Defiance West?
I became a fulltime member at Defiance West in the fall of 2016.
What were your thoughts after your first workout?
After my first workout I felt like I just ran a 5K.
What is your athletic background?
I played basketball and volleyball in grade school/high school and have continued to maintain fitness and working out as part of my lifestyle as an adult.
What is your favorite movement or workout?
My favorite movement is overhead squats.
What is your least favorite?
My least favorite movement is jumping pull ups or running.
What has been your favorite or proudest moment since joining?
My favorite or proudest moment was during this past spring/summer's strength and conditioning cycle. We tested and retested several 1 and 2 RM's and I was able to see a lot of improvement with my lifts, making progress and building strength.
How has Defiance West changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness?
Defiance has changed my life/lifestyle by teaching me ways to improve my eating habits. It also changed my level of fitness by increasing my overall strength. Since starting at the gym I feel stronger now than at any other time in my life.
What are your fitness goals for this year?
My fitness goals are to improve on body weight movements like pull ups, push ups and dips.
What advice would you give to people looking to get started at our gym?
Advice I would give someone looking to start at the gym would be to focus on themselves, their goals and self-improvement. And not get wrapped up in what other people are doing around them because they're just trying to be better too.
